- APPLE SYSTEM SOFTWARE LICENSING AGREEMENT - User Groups that
- have signed a System Software Agreement please take note of the new
- distribution system software list in the mailing. With a completed agreement
- in place, you can participate in this program at no cost. Here are some of the
- most commonly asked questions and answers regarding this licensing agreement:

- Who needs to be licensed?
- If you use all or part of any Apple software that will be distributed to other
- people, you need to license the use of htat software from Apple Computer, Inc.
- This is true whether the product is sold, used internally, or given away.

- Why do I need to be licensed?
- We license our software in order to protect our legal rights. Apple's
- intellectual property - consisting of the name, logo, trademarks, and
- copyrighted material, is a valuable corporate asset. Apple software is
- copyrighted, and it is illegal for anyone to redistribute it without a license.
- Our User Group Software Distribution Agreement allows user groups to distribute
- Apple software to their user group members.

- What is considered Apple software?
- Apple software consists of any software developed by Apple, including our
- system software and developer tools.

- What Apple software will I be allowed to distribute?
- You may only distribute that Apple software outlined in Exhibit A (see October
- mailing) that is updated from time to time and user groups are notified of
- additional Apple software that may be distributed.

- When do I need to contact the Software Licensing department?
- User groups must contact the Software Licensing Department before distributing
- any materials to their user groups. Apple requires user groups to mark the
- software with Apple's copyright notice and to distribute an end-user agreement
- with the software.

- What are the licensing fees?
- there are no licensing fees for Apple registered user groups.
